Farooq Ahmed – Principal, Edmonton
Farooq has over 35 years of diverse and progressive experience internationally as well as in Canada in investment banking, commercial banking, asset management and information technology. He started his career internationally with one of largest professional accounting firms of the country. His solution-driven and forward-thinking, as well as his leadership, organization skills, expertise, passion, and energy have been applauded. He is a strategic and collaborative finance leader and carries in-depth experience in assisting as organization in the design and implementation of a strategic plan. His international exposure and him to effectively formulate sustainable and robust business strategies and plans.
Farooq’s areas of focus include M & A, strategic planning, internal systems, controls & risk management, budgeting & forecasting, treasury and cashflow management, ERP selection & implementation, P&L management, and related policies. Farooq has been CFO of both public and private organizations. In his previous executive role, Farooq was the Group CFO of seven companies with businesses ranging from information technology (Acrodex Inc./PCM Canada), office furnishing, home furnishing, mattress manufacturing, property management and plant automation application services. There he was not only responsible for the respective finance teams, but also significant aspects of operations and stakeholder relations. He played a key role in the optimization of financial and operational performance through financial and business analysis facilitating decision making. He developed and implemented productivity tools for different departments highlighting cost savings and productivity improvement opportunities while highlighting star performers.
During his last role, with his deep dive review of internal systems and processes as the CFO of an information technology solutions provider (Acrodex Inc./PCM Canada – one of the 10 largest solutions providers in the country with $400M in sales) the organization was able to achieve over $500K in annual cost savings. He has in-depth experience of developing and implementing productivity tools for different departments highlighting cost savings and productivity improvement opportunities while highlighting star performers.
Farooq graduated with Bachelor of Arts with majors in Economics and Statistics from the University of Punjab, Pakistan. He carries three professional accreditations and is a CPA, CA, member of the Institute of Management Accountants of USA and is a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan.
