Mark Herron, Principal – Toronto
Mark is a Canadian CPA, CA with 40 years’ experience as CFO, audit partner and tax expert. He has a broad background in public, private (including non-profit) and entrepreneurial initiatives.
Mark’s CFO experience includes a publicly listed holding company in the emerging US cannabis industry (TILT Holdings), a publicly listed Health Canada cannabis applicant (Santé Veritas), a P3 industry and government partnership (Destination Toronto), as well as COO of a private health care company (Sunnybrook Clinicians’ Management) and co-founder of an escrow trust company (Meeting Escrow). Amongst his numerous accomplishments, Mark participated in raising seed capital for start-up and M&A before publicly listing Santé Veritas and TILT Holdings, re-visioned a new strategy for Sunnybrook Clinicians’ , thus successfully preserving and expanding its business, as well as transformed the governance and business practices of Destination Toronto, which successfully ensured its survival and growth through repeated going concern challenges.
Prior to his last 20 years as CFO of public and private companies, Mark started, built and sold a professional practice. His work for Davies, Ward and Torys then continued as core for the local success and national transformation of global CPA, CA firm Grant Thornton, where he became an audit and tax partner.
Mark has a B.Com in Finance from the University of Toronto, CPA, CA from Ernst & Young and ICD.D from the Institute of Corporate Directors and Rotman School of Management. He is currently board Treasurer of Solar Stage Children’s Theatre and Food For the Poor Canada.
